Spoken dialogue system: computer that talks by recognizing human voices

研究の背景 Background


Intelligence of robots such as the ability to talk with humans is still under development, while their appearance and locomotion have become similar to humans. The spoken dialogue function, which human beings inherently have, is indispensable for robots that interact with humans. Errors of automatic speech recognition are unavoidable as well as human being sometimes mishears; thus it is requisite to design spoken dialogue systems by assuming such errors, no matter how the speech recognition accuracy improves.

研究の目標 Outcome


Our research goal is to realize a robot that can intelligently talk like humans. Our approach is twofold: one is a robot speech interface that enables robots to recognize human speech robustly even under noisy environments; the other is knowledge acquisition through dialogues that enables robots to acquire local information that human participants know. Furthermore, we are also trying to extend our research to multi-party dialogue systems in which multiple humans and multiple robots talk each other.
