Synthetic organic chemistry for life sciences

Background

One of the most important mission of synthetic organic chemistry is design, synthesis and enough amount of supply of bioactive organic compounds, which are essential for life science studies. In the modern advanced synthetic organic chemistry, selective, short-step and atom-economical syntheses are required. Their successful results will lead to development of medicines and agrochemicals.

Outcome

Natural and unnatural bioactive compounds are efficiently synthesized, and their bioactivities are improved by designing the molecular structures. By using organic synthesis, we contribute to life sciences and develop new useful compounds such as medicines and agrochemicals. In order to achieve them, we develop new methodologies including reagents and reactions, and synthesize bioactive compounds taking advantage of the new methodologies.
