Synthesis, structure and physical properties of molecular electronic materials

Background

Molecular materials are promising candidates for novel electronic materials, due to their easiness in designing, variety in molecular structures, softness, and peculiar properties they exhibit. In recent years, studies toward organic electronics devices such as organic solar cells, organic transistors, and organic electroluminescent devices are extensively carried out, which are expected as next generation electronic devices.

Outcome

Introducing concept of supramolecules in synthesizing single crystal, we are realizing dynamic motion such as molecular rotation in the solid state. Utilizing such motions, we are developing novel electronic materials such as ferroics and multiferroics as well as electron-ion mixed conductors. Investigation of novel electronic functions besed on nanomaterials of molecular assemblies, and hybrid systems of metal nanoperticles and functional molecules are also studied.
